What am I using now?
Chances are very high that you are using 4ft/36W or 2ft/18W standard fluorescent tube lamps with magnetic ballasts. These standard fluorescent tube lamps are known as TL8 and have diameters of 1". You can further confirm this if you are able to locate the capacitor-starter or detect flickering and stroboscopic effect from the lamps.

How much energy does the standard 4ft/36W or 2ft/18W tube lamps consume?
You may be under the impression that you are only using and paying for the 36W/18W as rated on the tubes. You cannot be more wrong.

Magnetic ballasts used with these fittings consume a lot of energy. In general, a 4ft/36W tube lamp consumes between 48 to 52 watts and a 2ft/18W tube lamp consumes between 25 to 28 watts. This is dependent on the quality of the magnetic ballast that you are using.

What is an Electronic Ballast?
Electronic ballasts are the next generation energy saving ballasts intended as replacement for the magnetic ballast currently commonly used around the world. Electronic ballasts incur very low losses and are more energy efficient when compared to standard magnetic ballasts. Electronic ballasts also eliminates flickering and the TL5 tube lamps will light up your room instantly the moment the power switch is turned on --- just like an incandescent light bulb.

How much energy will Save It Easy™ save for me?
Save It Easy™ kits will help you save up to 55.6% energy and energy costs as well as increasing the brightness by 50% at the same time. Please visit our Products page or download our product brochure for more information.

How easy is it to replace the standard tube lamps with Save It Easy™?
It is extremely simple to replace standard tube lamps with Save It Easy™. You do not need to hire qualified electricians. You can do the replacement yourself in less than a minute.

Simply remove the 4ft/36W (or 2ft/18W, as applicable) tube lamps and the starter from your existing fittings. Plug in the special starter, plug the two adaptors into the two ends of TL5 light tube, and then simply fit the TL5 tube lamp into your light fittings.

In theory, this takes less than 30 seconds but shall we say 1 minute for your first time?

Can I go back to my old TL8 lamps if I want to?
Of course you can! Simply reverse the process described above --- remove the special starter and TL5 tube lamp, install your old starter and TL8 tube lamp. Switch on the electricity and your TL8 tube lamp will flicker and light up. Again, this takes around 30 seconds. You should not have to use 1 minute this time since you have done it before, haven't you?

What is the warranty for your products?
All Save It Easy™ products are backed by our no hassle carry-in exchange warranty against manufacturing defects and failure in operation that is extendable by option (charges apply).

We do not provide warranty for third party products, e.g. fluorescent tube lamps.

Can I purchase items or spare parts separately?
Replacement parts and fluorescent tube lamps of various ratings and colours are available for separate purchase in the event of misplacement or expiry of warranty.

Do I need to remove the current electromagnetic ballast or do any rewiring before installing Save It Easy™?
There is no need to remove the current normal ballast prior to installing Save It Easy™.

No rewiring is required for Save It Easy™. It's Plug-and-Save. It's that easy.

Why do my T5 lamps blink after I have installed Save It Easy ™ in my fitting?

Blinking lamps indicate the presence of a capacitor in your circuit.

Please conduct a check to ensure that you have replaced your normal starter with our green Save-It-Easy™ starter.

Can I use Save It Easy™ on my light fitting with 2 x 18W (T8) lamps connected in series with only one 36W electromagnetic ballast?
Save It Easy™ will replace the current electromagnetic ballast on a 1:1 basis. Thus in this instance, only one of the refitted lamps will be lit.

What if I already have compensation capacitors in my T8 fittings?

Compensation capacitors are installed in T8 electromagnetic fluorescent lamp circuits to counteract reactive power to avoid power factor penalties (kVarh) that result in higher bills.

The capacitors only work to reduce phase difference for power factor correction. However, capacitors do NOT increase the efficiency of the fluorescent lamp circuits and hence are not energy saving devices per se. The only way to improve the efficiency of electromagnetic fluorescent lamp circuits is to have them retrofitted with electronic ballasts.
